Legal Consultancy and Litigation Support: What Is the Difference?
People often use the terms legal consultancy and litigation interchangeably, but they describe different parts of resolving a legal matter.
Legal consultancy
Consultancy is about understanding and advising. It includes analysing the facts, assessing legal risks, researching legislation and judicial precedents, drafting and reviewing contracts, preparing legal memoranda and opinions, and developing a strategy that protects your interests.
Litigation support
When a matter moves into formal proceedings, litigation support covers following up on the proceedings and on enforcement. This is done in coordination with licensed law firms where required.
Why the first step matters
A clear assessment at the start often helps you choose the most suitable path, whether that is negotiation, a formal notice, or proceedings, and helps you avoid unnecessary cost and delay.
